Gene & Amber in Chicago
We were going back to my
family reunion in Ohio so we thought we would make a little vacation
out of our trip and spend a few extra days in Chicago.
We didn't realize Chicago had so many things to see and do. We landed
at O'hare airport and took a train directly from the airport to downtown
Chicago (only cost $1.75 each). We were dropped off exactly 1 block
from our awesome hotel, the Kimpton
Hotel Allegro Chicago. I would recommend this downtown location
to everyone.
We had no need for a car since everything was a short walk, or a short
taxi away. We started by getting the Chicago
Citypass. The Citypass included addmission tickets to the locations
below; unfortunately, we were unable to make it to the Art Institute
of Chicago because we ran out of time. However, we did make it to
all the other attractions.
• The Hancock Observatory
• The Art Institute of Chicago
• The Field Museum
• Shedd Aquarium
• Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum
• Museum of Science and Industry
This is our view from the
103rd floor of Sears Tower. You can see the Hancock Observatory
(black building on far left nearest the water) from the Sears Tower.
We had to go to the Sears Tower because it's such a landmark, but
I liked the Hancock Tower a little better because the lines were much
shorter and the view was just as good.
We're a couple of space cadets at the Museum of Science and Industry.
The MSI was huge and interactive. You could spend several days checking
this place out.

We also had to try out some real Chicago Style pizza. We went to
Gino's East because that's supposedly where it all started. Ummm Good.
We also went to the House Of Blues and got a lot of FREE drinks from
our coolio bartender. He was giving us all the drinks they screwed
up... we couldn't keep up, but we tried.
